The concept of the dacha, its goals and objectives

When we place a dog for an adoption in the Netherlands, we, of course, want to give a maximum of honest and detailed information about the nature, behavior, health of each individual dog. As you know, our website contains the overwhelming majority of dogs from shelters, in which walls it is absolutely impossible to check in detail the behavior, its possible reaction on changing situation, changing people, surroundings. And creating of our own place for socializing dogs before sending in NL’s families or fosters – is an ideal solution for today’s moment.

On the territory of dacha, we can observe for a long time the behavior of dogs, their relation in a dog pack, we are able to check the attitude towards several people: elderly woman, to a middle-aged woman, to a strong tall man, to an Asian man (according to experience keeping dogs in shelters with employees from the countries of Central Asia, many dogs are afraid of them), the attitude to the child of 5 years. Behavior in the car, in the house, outside. Yes, many things to list. This project allows to check the dog as thoroughly as possible and to correct problems with behavior, health and habits.

We are very concerned about our high reputation of the MyMartin fund, and we want not only rescue dogs, leaving problems on their newly adoptive parents, but also to make a check in advance of each reserved dog and prepare it to a flight and a new life.

Who lives here?

Throughout the season, there are always 2 people at the dacha: our volunteer Galina, and a specially hired employee on salary. On weekends (from Friday to Sunday) I come with my family to monitor, prepare videos, photos and reports.

Summer plan 2017

For this moment we are planning to continue this project until October 2017, and then, as in the previous year, to close for the winter until summer 2018. We are thinking of keeping about 10 dogs at the same time, as soon as some of them leave, we take new ones in their places.

We strongly urge you to pay attention to these dogs. If you like one of them you can give it a chance to have a family or foster. If we focus on this pack and let them come in NL asap we will be able to take others suffering dogs from our shelters.

Technical part

Dacha consists of 3 buildings – the main house (where we and Galina live with 5 dogs), small house for the worker +5 dogs, and the building with a shower and toilet. A huge thanks to donators: last year we conducted water on the yard and installed heaters, it means that now it is possible to cook and wash dishes, and wash ourselves and dogs with warm water from the shower instead of buckets. Because the dacha is located on a marshy area, there is a problem of excess water, meanwhile we tried to improve the problem by ordering sand and filling the most problematic areas on the yard.

Our employee during the first week of his stay has already built additional premises for keeping dogs and has made their living more comfortable. We continue to improve conditions.

Food, leashes, collars, toys, medications, and other small accessories for keeping dogs were purchased.
