Dear caregivers of Nelly,
Today is Nelly’s first birthday. She’s a part of our family and we’re happy to have her. She been on holiday with us, sleeping at a campsite, in a tent. She’s at her happiest in green environments, the forest, dunes and at sea. Crowds of people can still make her anxious but not as much as when she first was here. We try to get her used to it by taking her with our first dog, but also on her own, to help her build her self esteem. She loves to sit on a hill, and look around. She can walk off leash now, and she listens most of the times when we call on her or whistle. She loves to play with other young dogs, she plays gently but with a lot of energy. Thank you very much for taking care of her when she was in Russia.

Toen Nelly-2 één maand oud was, werd ze met haar broers en zussen achtergelaten in een kist naast de poort van het asiel. Op jonge leeftijd werd ze ziek omdat het asiel overvol was met puppy’s en volwassen honden, Nelly-2 kreeg niet de juiste behandeling. De ziekte ging gepaard met ernstige keratitis. Nelly-2 overwon de ziekte, maar haar linkeroog bleef misvormd. Gelukkig werd ze met 5 maanden oud, uit het asiel gehaald en verbleef bij een pleeggezin. In het begin was Nelly-2 een beetje bang – ze had tenslotte nooit een andere wereld gekend dan een hok met tralies. Ná gewenning in haar pleeggezin te Moscow werd ze een lieve, leuke, aanhankelijke pup.

Nelly-2 is een bescheiden, vrolijke, jonge hond. Ze gedraagt ​​zich rustig en geduldig. Ze geniet van de aandacht. Autorijden prima. Wandelt goed mee aan de lijn. Nelly-2 kan een aantal uurtjes alleen thuis met de andere honden. Ze is sociaal met mensen, honden en andere dieren (katten/paarden). Naar onbekende honden is ze behoedzaam.

Bij een eerste ontmoeting met vreemden is Nelly-2 voorzichtig, ze kijkt de kat uit de boom.  Als je haar aait en vriendelijk aanspreekt, opent ze haar hartje en accepteert ze de genegenheid met dankbaarheid. Houdt er rekening mee bij een kennismaking dat ze haar verlegen kant zal laten zien.

Momenteel gaat een heel nieuwe wereld voor haar open, in bepaalde situaties zal ze nog onzeker zijn. Ze past het best bij een niet te druk gezinsleven met honden ervaring. Die haar alle tijd geven die ze nodig heeft, leren op haar eigen tempo. Lekker met haar op pad gaan. Huis met tuin zou ideaal zijn. Kinderen vanaf 10 jaar. 

Gezondheid: Op jonge leeftijd leed Nelly-2 aan een ernstige keratitis waardoor haar linkeroog is vergroot. Het oog doet geen pijn is niet ontstoken, de druk is normaal; er is geen behandeling nodig.
Visie is gedeeltelijk behouden.

When Nellie was 1 month old, she was brought along with her brothers and sisters and left in a box next to the gate of the orphanage. At an early age she fell ill and as the shelter was overcrowded with puppies and adult dogs, Nellie did not receive proper treatment. Therefore, the disease was accompanied by severe keratitis. Nellie overcame  the disease, but her left eye remained deformed. Despite this visible defect, Nellie is not worried and lives a full life. When Nellie was 5 months old, I took her out of the orphanage and put her in a foster family. Nelly lives there now. This is a village house where a family lives. Dogs of different ages and genders also live there.

At first, right after the shelter, Nellie was a little fearful – after all, she never knew any other world than the cage. But living in a family, having the opportunity to walk and communicate, Nellie very quickly got used to and became a normal, affectionate puppy. Nelly has a calm temperament, almost not barks. She is a modest and kind dog, without aggression at all. She behaves very calmly and patiently at the vet, rides well in a car (but she cannot be fed before the trip, otherwise she will get seasick). She loves to be with people, to receive attention and affection, to play with toys. Nelly loves to walk in the woods with a human, walks well on a leash. And if I let her off the leash (for a little while), she walks beside me and comes up to the call.

Nellie, date of birth July 2020 (20,07,2020). Appearance: cute dog, will be of medium size, NOW – weight 13kg, 43cm at the withers.

Health: at an early age suffered severe keratitis due to which her left eye is enlarged and covered with a film. It doesn’t bother her now. The eye does not hurt or inflamed, pressure is normal (measured within 2 months).  Vision is partially preserved. No treatment is required now, and doctors believe that she can live her entire life without worrying about this eye. Otherwise, Nelly is a normal healthy puppy.

Nelly can eat any healthy food suitable for dogs. Now she eats dry food. Very interested in treats and loves chewable toys.

At the first meeting with a stranger Nellie is a little careful, freezes and tucked her tail. But if you stroke her, treat her and speak kindly, she quickly opens and accepts the affection with gratitude.

Up to now Nellie had little communications with the children. She behaves with children also peacefully, but a little afraid of noisy and assertive kids.

Behaves friendly with other dogs, plays with young dogs of her size. When meeting unfamiliar dogs, she shows reasonable caution. If nothing threatens, she gets acquainted with interest.

Nellie is not interested in cats.

Nelly stays at home alone with the other dogs. At the same time, she behaves quietly and calmly.

She is accustomed to using the toilet outoor, taking into account the fact that she lives in a country house and has the opportunity to spend a lot of time in the garden.

Nelly is a dog of moderate activity, kind and affectionate. She is suitable for calm people, perhaps with children over 10 years old. Maybe a second dog.
