Na een dag die ouwe Pancho verveeld te hebben, viel Banjo al knauwend in slaap.

En toen kwam er een klein wormpje uit de hangaar lopen. Zo rustig en stil en zooooo mooi. En hij stapt zo achter me aan de auto in. En voordat ik t weet licht het wormpje op mn schoot. Die voelt wel aan dat hij bij twee goede mensen in de kar zit!
Komtie aan, in een rare stad, moet mee met een man met een rare pet. We stappen uit en hij staat meteen voor Hugo. “Zo, dat voelt veilig”. Welkom thuis Banjo.
Oh jaa, Banjo? Wil je een baan? Op andere honden passen en uitlaten? We beginnen morgen met de introducties! Als er vragen zijn kijk maar naar Hugo of naar mij.
Eerst even de rusjes erbij, Messi en James. En later de rest. Wat is het toch een leuk sociaal hondje.. met flinke puberkuren! Ojaa Banjo, ik woon naast 3 vijvers, lijkt je dat wat? Honderden meters gras en bos? Goed? Het verkeer is wel heel eng he, je ligt er plat op de grond van! Maar tussen drie andere honden in, lijken die auto’s ineens niet zo eng meer!En hoe bevalt het bed Banjo? Ligt dat lekker bij Hugo en t baasje op bed? En dat de onderbuurvrouw een friese stabij is die komt logeren bevalt je ook wel he?! En week één van je stage zit er bijna op. Je mag een packwalk mee lopen zonder Hugo erbij, zet m op jongen. Want ik weet niet of je het doorhebt, maar stiekem heb je alweer een hoop vrienden erbij. Hoe vind je dat?
Je bent een mooie hond, prachtig, je hebt veel zelfvertrouwen ondanks jouw angsten. Een klein rotzakje, heel slim, heel assertief. Je pakt onze instructies goed op, je wilt het ook graag leren, dat maak je heel duidelijk zichtbaar. Ooh wij gaan het goed hebben jongen, let jij maar op!
Welkom in de familie Banjo!
Wollig beertje Mishka, bescheiden, rustig, lief, woonde als puppy op een industrieterrein. Op dit terrein werden honden systematisch vergiftigd, Mishka en zijn twee zusjes waren op een gegeven moment de enige pups uit een nest die het hebben overleefd. De honden bedelden bij het naburige station om eten, Mishka was één van de actieve bedelaars, maar hij kwam niet te dicht in de buurt van mensen, de meesten waren niet bepaald vriendelijk.
Toen één van onze vrijwilligers deze problemen ontdekte zorgde ze dat de puppies gevangen konden worden.
Nadat de puppies zijn gevangen, moesten ze 1 maand in de dierenkliniek verblijven, daarna zijn ze naar het asiel gebracht. Het verblijf in het asiel begon voor Mishka in de eerste instantie goed, hij had ruimte om rond te rennen en kreeg goed te eten, hij werd zelfs bezocht door een trainer die hem basistraining gaf. Helaas verslechterde de situatie in het asiel na een half jaar, zijn vrijwilliger kreeg niet meer de mogelijkheid om hem te bezoeken en na 2 maanden ruzie werd Mishka – in slechte staat -teruggegeven aan de vrijwilliger. Uitgeput en uitgehongerd viel hij zijn eerste bak eten in lange tijd aan. Hij was angstig en maakte zich klein bij plotselinge handbewegingen. Hij was er slechter aan toe dan toen hij op straat leefde. En toch gedroeg hij nooit agressief naar mensen toe, wel hij verstijfde van angst als hij dacht dat hij klappen zou krijgen. Hij wil mensen eigenlijk het liefst tevreden stellen.
Sinds maart 2017 verblijft hij bij een foster. Bij binnenkomst werd hij gewassen en hij bleef braaf staan in de badkamer, ook toen zijn vacht werd gekamd en de klitten werden geknipt gedroeg hij zich voorbeeldig. Mishka geniet inmiddels van wandelingen waar hij heerlijk in het gras kan spelen.
Hij is niet verpest na alles wat hij heeft meegemaakt, integendeel, Mishka is er helemaal klaar voor om een lief en trouw gezinslid te zijn!
Houding tov volwassenen: Goed. Is alert bij de eerste ontmoeting, maar niet onbenaderbaar. Als hij rustig geaaid en aangesproken wordt is hij snel weer over zijn bezorgdheid heen. Voor bekenden is hij vriendelijk en gezellig.
Houding tov kinderen: Vanaf 10 jaar.
Houding tov andere honden: Goed. Hij negeert onbekende reuen, hij zal ze nooit aanvallen. Met teefjes wil hij wel even kennismaken en gaat dan weer weg. Hij is geen hond die ruzie opzoekt en met honden die hij kent kan hij prima overweg.
Houding tov katten: Goed, hij negeert katten.
Kan alleen zijn: Onbekend.
Hij is gewend om aan de lijn te lopen, kan trekken als hij iets heel interessants ziet, maar loopt zo weer mee terug. In een rustige omgeving loopt hij braaf een stukje voorop.
Mishka vindt autorijden een beetje spannend, maar kijkt ook nieuwsgierig uit het raam, je hoort hem dan ook niet!
Hij is zindelijk, heeft een goede eetlust, kent enkele basiscommando’s.
Gezondheid: Mishka is gevaccineerd, gecastreerd, gechipt en heeft een dierenpaspoort.

The history of the dog: From the very puppy Mishka lived in the industrial zone. At this point there is a systematic poisoning of dogs, so he and his two sisters survived from all the litter. Having learned about this problematic place, the volunteer organized catching all the puppies that were there. Puppies went out to the station, asked for food from people, Mishka was one of the active beggars, but he did not go close to people, as many people treated them badly.
After the catch, he and the other puppies spent 1 month in the hospital, then he was sent to the shelter. At first everything was fine, he ran in a good paddock and ate a good food, he was even visited by a trainer, who worked with him with the main teams. Unfortunately, after half a year the situation in the shelter changed for the worse, the volunteer lost the opportunity to visit the “guy” and after 2 months of fighting, Mishka returned to the hands of the volunteer in a “terrible state”. Exhausted, greedily attacking the food and not ate from the first time. He reacted to the swing of his hands – frightened, clinging to the floor. Mishka looked worse than he lived on the street. But at the same time, the dog did not show aggression towards the person, only was very afraid of swinging, we can say “froze in anticipation of beatings”.
At the moment he has been at foster for a month already (for March 2017): he was washed, and he behaved himself, obediently stood in the bathroom! They combed their hair and cut off the coots, castrated them, and again, well done! Well behaved in the clinic and after anesthesia, obediently performing all the commands. Now he likes to go for walks, there is grass, he starts to play with toys, to frolic. The guy is very trying to please, so obediently goes on a leash and on the street. He really needs caring hands, a family and his own house. The boy needs attention and care, in turn and he is ready to be a gentle and faithful member of the family. The horrors he experienced in his life did not spoil him, the guy reaches out to the person and wants to communicate with him. He is fully ready to enter the family for life.
Nutrition: allergies not detected. Eats dry food / canned food. Loves dog treats.
Character – calm, unobtrusive, quiet, kind and sweet.
Attitude towards adults: with strangers on first encounter is alert, presses his ears and cuddles to the floor, anxiety goes away quickly if He stroked several times and talked. With familiar people behaves absolutely friendly, caressed.
Attitude towards children: in a family with children older than 10 years.
Attitude to other males and females: To unfamiliar males he will not get acquainted, he will sit on the side and be warn, never attack, with females – get acquainted and go away. He will not attack himself, he will submit to the attack, he does not go into a general fight. With familiar dogs can safely run on one territory.

Relation to other animals (how they react to birds, rats on the street): unknown.
As he walks on a leash: to the leash is accustomed. In the case of extreme interest in the object, he may begin to pull, but when pulled, it approaches the person and goes alongside. In a quiet environment – he obediently walks a bit ahead of the person.

How he drives in the car: a little scared, but on a long trip he looks out the window and is interested in places. Quiet, not a sound!
Can he stay at home alone (whether accustomed to the house, spoils furniture, etc.): unknown. Probably needs to get used. Good if you have another dog, not dominance.
Toilet: In the apartment can tolerate, several times will be asked to go outside, then can do things.
