Utah is a young girl, a sister of Una. She is 1 year old (was born in May 2020), 43 cm tall and about 10 kg of weight, quite a compact dog. She is neutered and vaccinated. She is well-balanced, adequately playful, gets accustomed quite quickly to new things and is very grateful for love and care she gets from people.
Utah has gone through many hardships in her short life. All her sisters and mother found homes very quickly but, unfortunately for Utah, she had to spend almost a year in a shelter alone after spending some time as a stray puppy. She was not happy in a shelter as other dogs were not nice to her at all. When she arrived to a foster family in Moscow in May 2021 she surprised us with her exhausted and malnourished look, her ribs were visible so well. Now Utah is very fond of her foster mom as she has never experienced so much care and love that can be given by people. Probably more than many other dogs she needs to be hugged and touched, stay next to her people on a sofa. Utah demonstrates so well by all her look and behaviour how much she needs love.
Utah walks well on a leash, gets along very well with other dogs and cats. There are a lot of pets in the foster family and Utah feels absolutely comfortable living with them all, she became part of the pack pretty quickly. Utah is nice and calm with kids. She rides well in a car, does not get sick. She now sleeps in her own bed but does not mind the sofa. Utah eats well dry food, likes canned food and fresh meat. Utah will benefit from living in a detached house with some fenced garden so that she can run from time to time. She has some hunting blood in her and needs more activity than other dogs but for now she seems to be the calmest and most balanced of all “hunting” dogs I have come across. I think long walks will be also good for her.
It is preferable to find mid-aged family for her, retired people with active lifestyle will also suit. It is better to adopt Utah to a family with another dog as it will not be boring for her to stay home alone.
