Ricardo is geadopteerd.
Ricardo (Ricky) is op een bijzondere manier in onze familie gekomen. We kwamen hem op 28 april 2017 tegen bij onze buurtsuper. Mijn man en ik gingen boodschappen doen en onze twee honden wachtten buiten op ons. Tijdens het boodschappen doen brak er een geweldige regenbui los. Iedereen ging schuilen en wij gingen snel naar onze honden toe. En daar was Ricardo, volkomen onduidelijk waar hij vandaan kwam.
Eerst dachten we nog dat zijn baasje in de buurt moest zijn en dat Ricardo even kennis kwam maken met onze honden. Maar al snel zagen we dat hij bij niemand hoorde, hij was alleen. Het blijft nog steeds vreemd om in deze tijd, in een woonwijk, een zwerfhond te vinden.
Hij had geen halsband om, had een litteken op zijn neus en was niet gecastreerd. We konden de eerste minuten van onze kennismaking filmen. Hij werd aangetrokken door onze hond Monica. Hij snuffelde, vond haar leuk en kwispelde. We hadden net worstjes ingekocht en gaven hem er een. Het was wonderlijk maar hij reageerde er niet zo op als we gedacht hadden. Hij vond de andere honden leuker dan de worst.
We deden de halsband van onze Monica om bij Ricky en hij liep met ons mee aan de lijn alsof hij nooit anders gedaan had. Hij was een beetje bang om mee naar binnen te gaan. Hieruit concludeerde ik dat hij toch geen huishond was. Hij is wel mensen gewend want hij is niet bang van mensen. Mijn vermoeden is dat hij op een bouwterrein of werkplaats heeft geleefd samen met andere honden. De lente kwam en deze jongen (volgens de dierenarts ongeveer een jaar oud) is waarschijnlijk op zoek gegaan naar een leuk vriendinnetje en zo de roedel uitgezet.
In de flat gedroeg hij zich meteen uitmuntend. Ik heb nog nooit zo’n dankbare hond gezien. Met zijn hele houding en uitdrukking laat hij ons merken hoe gelukkig hij is in de warmte en veiligheid van een familie.
De volgende dag gingen we naar de Dacha en we konden niet anders dan hem meenemen. Het autorijden ging goed, hij kon het goed hebben met onze andere honden (teefjes en reutjes) en onderging geduldig de autorit en de streken van ons 5-jarige zoontje. We ontdekten deze dagen in de dacha veel positieve eigenschappen van deze lieverd. Hij mocht daar los in onze tuin lopen en reageerde al op zijn naam die hij nog maar één dag had.
Ricky is een actieve, energieke, jonge, sterke hond. Hij is ongelooflijk slim en leert snel. Zonder riem rent hij als een raket, hij heeft veel energie, een echte jonge hond! Soms blaft hij, tijdens het passeren, naar andere honden maar op ons commando stopt hij daar onmiddellijk mee. Het is geen agressie en is te corrigeren. Hij loopt dus netjes aan de lijn maar als hij iets interessants ziet, kan hij gaan trekken. Hij is niet al te groot maar hij is wel sterk. Als hij trekt voel je dit wel en moet het gecorrigeerd worden. We zijn al begonnen hem hierin te trainen en hij begint het al te snappen. Het zou leuk zijn met hem naar hondentraining te gaan, hij zal er van genieten en zal goede resultaten behalen.
Houding tov volwassenen: Hij is mensgericht, houdt van aanhalen, loopt altijd blij te kwispelen en vraagt om lekker geaaid te worden. Hij is vriendelijk naar al onze familieleden, reageert netjes op onbekenden, toont geen agressie, is niet bang. Hij accepteert het kalm als anderen hem aaien.
Houding tov kinderen: goed. Op de foto’s is te zien dat hij toestaat dat onze zoon aan zijn oren zit, hem knuffelt en met hem speelt.
Houding tov andere honden: goed. Hij staat andere honden toe hem te benaderen en laat zich dan ook besnuffelen (zie video)
Houding tov katten: Goed. Op straat toont hij interesse in katten. Als hij niet aan de lijn zou zitten, zou hij er achteraan gaan.
Kan alleen zijn: Hij kan alleen thuis blijven, blaft niet en maakt niets stuk. Vanaf de eerste dag is hij zindelijk. Hij is gewend om drie keer per dag te wandelen.
Gezondheid: Ricardo is gevaccineerd, gecastreerd, gechipt en heeft een dierenpaspoort.
Ricardo, Ricky – the dog is definitely special, because His emergence in our family does not fit into the framework of everyday life. We met him on April 28, 2017 near our local grocery store. My husband and I went to the store, and our 2 dogs were tied to a tree next to it and was waiting for us. In the process, the heaviest rain started, the people fled and when we went out to untie the dogs, it was completely unclear where HE came from.
At first we thought that it was someone’s master dog, had come to get acquainted with our dogs, but then realized that he was nobody’s … I will say clearly – it’s a great rarity in our time to meet a stray dog in our residential area.
He was without a collar, with a scar on his nose and not neutered. We were able to shoot the first minutes of acquaintance on video: he was attracted by our Monica (call of nature). Sniffed, was interested, wagged his tail. We got the sausage and decided to feed him. It’s interesting, but he did not react to it very much, he was just glad to find himself in the circle of other dogs. We took off the collar of our Monica and dressed on Ricky. The dog obeyed unquestioningly and went home with us on a leash.
The first time he was a little bit afraid to go to the entrance, from this I concluded that after all he was not a house dog. But he had been definitely among people, and does not afraid of them. My assumption is that he lived on a construction site, or on the protection of some object in a pack of other dogs. Spring came, and the young dog (by the way, at least a year, as the veterinarian said) ran to look for a girlfriend, and fought off the pack.
In the flat he immediately behaved splendidly. I have not met such a grateful dog before. With his whole appearance, his gaze made it clear how happy he is to be in warmth and care.
The next day we had a trip to the dacha (you can read about the dacha project at our site), and we had no choice but to take him with us, so we immediately found out that he was riding well in the car, he got on well with our dogs of different gender, patiently endures all the manipulation of our 5-year-old son and many more of Ricky’s positive qualities that we continue to discover for ourselves. At the dacha we washed him well. And on arrival – 01/05/2017 – the dog was castrated.
Nutrition: Eats dry food with canned food, gnaws dog bones, in general is omnivorous, but he is not greedy on food, does not show aggression if other dogs put nose into his plate.
By nature, he is active, energetic, young strong dog, he was already running around without a lead and reacted on his name! This is an incredibly clever and easily learned dog. Without a leash, he rushes like a rocket, a lot of energy, a young one! It is very person-oriented, loves affection, always wags his tail, asks to be stroked. Friendly to all family members, responds well to strangers, does not show aggression, doesn’t afraid, calmly accepts affection from others.
The photographs show that he allowed our son to fold his ears, hug, play. We do not have cats, but on the street he shows interest to them. if he hadn’t got a lead, he would have chased them. He definitely has a hunting instinct, so I can not guarantee cat safety.
When we pass by other dogs, sometimes he starts barking on them, but after our command, he immediately stops. I don’t see any aggression towards others, it is amenable to correction. He allows other dogs come to him and sniff (you can see it on a video , when we were in a store we saw unknown person with a dog had come to our pack).
In general, he walks well on a leash, but if something interests him, he can pull the leash, although he is not too big in size, but strong enough, when pulling, it feels, needs to be corrected. When I pull out the leash and tell him “near”. He gives in to training and some time goes near the foot. He does not know the commands, but we are working on it. The dog, I repeat, is very, quickly learns, so if in the future he can attend training courses, I think he will be able to achieve high results.
He can stay alone at home, does not bark, doesn’t spoil. From the first day he makes toilet only outside. We walk with dogs 3 times a day. But there were situations where he was waiting longer (from morning till evening).
